'Big Ten Legends: Award Winners' to Profile Past Heisman Recipients
Program to debut Thursday 7:30 PM ET
CHICAGO – Later this week, as one college football player forever secures his legacy by joining the illustrious class known as Heisman Trophy winners, the Big Ten Network looks back at the conference's six most recent winners on the show BIG TEN LEGENDS: AWARD WINNERS. The program, hosted by Rick Pizzo, debuts at 7:30 PM ET Thursday.
The show will feature one-on-one interviews with Troy Smith (Ohio State, 2006), Ron Dayne (Wisconsin, 1999), Charles Woodson (Michigan, 1997), Eddie George (Ohio State, 1995), Desmond Howard (Michigan, 1991) and college football's only two-time Heisman Trophy winner, Archie Griffin (Ohio State, 1974-75). Each individual will share their memories and re-live the iconic moments of their Heisman seasons.
"These are some of the most celebrated players in Big Ten history," Big Ten Network President Mark Silverman said. "I'm sure that fans will enjoy hearing these legends re-live their chase for college football's greatest prize."
With more recipients than any other league through the years, the Big Ten is the conference most closely and consistently associated with the Heisman Trophy. Fifteen Big Ten players have claimed the award, beginning with Chicago's Jay Berwanger, who won the first-ever Heisman in 1935.
BIG TEN LEGENDS: AWARD WINNERS will re-air at 6 PM ET and at 11:30 PM ET Friday, at noon and at 3:30 PM ET Saturday and at 5:30 PM ET Sunday.
